“The world is changing and I make drawings, but that’s all I do. Friends no longer come to my studio. They call me on the phone, while I draw on memory to fill in the blanks of which way an eyebrow twists or how broad their shoulders are. I can hardly imagine, as I make these drawings, a more obscure time to be human. The invisible pull of everything seeming to need us is present. Even if we do one good deed the ocean doesn’t care. The wind doesn’t care. The woman passing in her car while singing, doesn’t care.
Hence the title of the edition, made up of three unique drawings: Everything seems to need us (the ocean doesn’t care). Seen from a distance the selection of handmade papers form a chord of primary colors: Red, yellow, blue… and green. In their aloneness they rely on each other.” (KB)
