Evelyn Taocheng Wang‘s artworks develop from the question of how cultural and gender identity is constituted and what effects these autobiographical structures have on one’s own body and behaviour. In her installations, paintings, ink drawings, performances, films and animations, she records observations and experiences between cultures and sexes. The artist also investigates forms of representation in classical art history: Chinese calligraphy and Dutch painting are important points of reference. Her versatile artistic practice is based on the exploration of beauty.
