Simon Denny’s oeuvre manifests itself in various media such as video, sculpture, print and installation. Thematically, he negotiates the globalization of modern society with a focus on digitalization, capitalism, neoliberalism, technology, and national identity. From an almost dystopian perspective, these influences are provocatively reflected in the work created especially for the Kunstverein, a collage of various board games, in the divergence of retrophilia and a gloomy reaction to social and technical developments.
Simon Denny (*1982 in Auckland, lives in Berlin) studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. His works were shown in solo exhibitions at the Mona – Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmanien (2019), Hammer Museum in Los Angeles (2017), MoMA PS1 in New York (2015), Westfälischer Kunstverein in Münster (2012), T293 in Rome (2011), Halle für Kunst in Lüneburg (2010), and the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis (2010), amongst others. He participated at the Berlin Biennale 2016 and the Venice Biennale 2015.
