ADAGIO FOR COLOR FIELDS Chris Korda

ADAGIO FOR COLOR FIELDS Chris Korda

Limited edition of 50 copies, hardcover, 54 p.

This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name at Goswell Road, Paris, and is dedicated to Korda’s generative, audiovisual, synaesthetic work Adagio For Color Fields (2023), which is shown as part of her exhibition Artist’s Con(tra)ception (25.5.–14.7.2024) at the cinema of the Kölnischer Kunstverein.

It is a so-called generative work. generative art is produced in whole or in part by an autonomous system that works randomly or according to predetermined rules.

Korda also refers to her generative works as kinetic sculptures. In collaboration with her algorithms, she does not use the machine as a “servant”, but rather:

“I invite them into the creative space as equals. They have skills that I don’t have, and I also have skills that they don’t have, so we complement each other. They provide speed and precision, I provide desire and intuition, and the result is more than the sum of its parts.”
