Ser Serpas – sonderbare Tage
4.9.–13.12.2026
The work of Ser Serpas keeps unfolding – and surprising us. Given the breadth of what the artist, born in 1995, has already made, it seems right to speak of a body of work. Her artistic movements are open and unpredictable, not least because she often works together with other artists. She is one of those artists with whom you can never be quite sure what will come next.
Serpas’s first exhibitions landed with force in contemporary art: they immediately attracted attention, her sculptures made from discarded things, ultimately from rubbish, found on the street and, in what she calls “private performances,” stacked into pointed constellations, compressed into one another, their parts eventually dismantled and returned to the street. Art-historical styles may reverberate through what she does, and yet it remains wilful, its own thing. Serpas refuses to be pinned down by the boards of categorisation. She makes generous use of the panorama of possibilities, while at the same time her poems, paintings and performances, made with a punk attitude from the very beginning, reveal an inner coherence.
